This pilgrim centre is of great significance since Saint Dnyaneshwar is said to have composed Dnyaneshwari in the Karavireshwar temple of this village.

Here is the temple of Mohini Raja which is artistically designed. A legend is that Shree Vishnu in the disguise of a woman – Mohini – killed the demon Bhasmasur. In the memory of this event a temple is erected known as Mohini Raja Temple.

About the 9th century, Marathi language, which was already the spoken language of the people, was first made the vehicle of written literature. By the middle of the 13th century Marathi, emerging out of its adolescence, came of age when Saint Dnyaneshwar, among others, composed his immortal commentary on Geeta – Dnyaneshwari at Nevase, hence the significant importance of the place.

Dnyaneshwar temple is built around a pillar, near which Dnyaneshwar had composed Dnyaneshwari.

Little away from Nevase is Deogad, on the bank of Pravara. In this village are located well known temple of Dattatraya and the Samadhi of Shree Kisangiri Maharaj.
