One of the world’s best preserved forts built during Yadav rule in the 11th century, Daulatabad displays many internal contriving defense provisions that made it invincible. There is a series of secret, quizzical passages to trouble, confuse and deceive the entire enemy garrison within.
This Yadav fort was captured by Allauddin Khilji in 1296. It was further elevated to an imperial capital of Muslim Sultanate of Muhammed-Bin-Tughlaq who shifted here Delhi’s entire population. Allauddin Ahmedshah Bahamani has erected a 33 meter high tower which is a replica of Delhi’s Kutub Minar.
The Samadhi of Janardan Swami, the Guru of Saint Eknath and a Dattatraya Temple, the two shrines in the vicinity of the fort are often visited by devotees with great reverence.
It certainly is a must see for any tourist visiting Aurangabad.
