MAHAKALI CAVES

The Mahakali Caves are located on a hill called Udaygiri Hill, in Andheri, the western suburb of Mumbai City.

The Mahakali Caves, which were known as Kondivita Caves earlier, are a group of 19 rock-cuts caves, were built during the Buddhist period.

Most caves are Buddhist monasteries but cave No.9 is Chaitya, a prayer hall, which comprises seven images of Lord Buddha.

Many archeologists, historians visit the Mahakali Caves every year.

HOW TO REACH MAHAKALI CAVES

Location
The Mahakali Caves are located near the Junction between the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road and the SEEPZ.

By Road
You can take BEST Bus (Route No.333) from the Andheri Station (East) to the Mahakali Caves or hire an Auto from the Andheri Railway Station [Auto would cost you around INR 40/- to 50/-]
