JANJIRA FORT

The Janjira Fort, is one of the strongest marine forts, was built nearly 400 years ago. It is located on the oval-shaped rock on the sea near the port town of Murud.  Earlier the Janjira Fort was known by the name of Jazeere Mehroob. The fort was built by Malik Ambar, who was the regent of the Nizamshahi Dynasty of Ahmadnagar.

The Janjira Fort is famous for being the only fort along India's West Coast that remained unconquered despite Dutch, British, Portuguese and Maratha Attacks.

The Janjira Fort is accessible by sail boats from Rajapuri Koliwada Jetty.

MURUD BEACH

The Murud beach is one of the most pristine beaches in Maharashtra. The Murud Janjira Stretch is 1.75 kilometers. Gentle Winds, White Soft Sand and crystal clear water make Murud bay irresistible to beach lovers. The coconut and palm trees enhancing the beauty of this beach. The beach is very safe for swimming. The sunsets and sunrise views from this beach are worth watching.
