Flora Fountain |
Flora Fountain, a beautiful monument, located at D.N. Road, Opposite Mumbai High Court, in south Mumbai.
The monument was constructed in the year 1864, with a total cost of Rs.47000/-, in honor of the Governor Sir Bartle Frere.
This beautiful monument was designed by the British architect R. Norman Shaw.
The beautiful sculpture of the ‘Roman Goddess Flora’ was made by James Forsythe. The monument was sculpted in imported Portland Stone. Originally the fountain area was called as Frere Fountain but later on it was renamed to Flora Fountain.
